Mental Health represents many different types of feelings and behaviors. We hear about stress and anxiety a lot but there are also other disorders such as ADHD and Schizophrenia. Many factors contribute to mental health problems, including:
And even family history of mental health problems.
So why is this important for your career? Well we spend a 1/3 of our lifetime working and it is significantly important to understand how this impacts our mental health in the workplace. Also, with the impact of COVID 19 how has the pandemic and the fallout exacerbated the issue. According to mentalhealth.org - A staggering 70 million workdays are lost each year due to mental health problems in the UK, costing employers approximately £2.4 billion per year. So, there is a personal cost to people’s wellbeing but also to employer’s operating costs.
